video catch up

Here are two videos from Easter. The little girls were having a blast on the trampoline. By the way, 2-year-old Layla is the daughter of a good family friend, Monica. In the second video, Elliott actually kisses Rylan, which basically means she sticks out her tongue and licks her face while making a noise. You'll notice that Ryan sounds a little jealous, and rightfully so. She refuses to kiss him, but will kiss just about everyone else. We think she's either playing her first game of "hard to get," or she just doesn't like his beard stubble. Either way, we know it has nothing to do with lack of love; she lights up every time she sees her daddy!

"Prelude to a Kiss"

The next two videos are
from last week, and feature Elliott in her swing. Let me explain the whole "we make a spell" thing in the first one. In one of Ellie's favorite books, Trick or Treat by Melanie Walsh, there's a page with a cauldron on it. It reads, "We make a spell..." and then you open the flap on the cauldron lid and inside it says, "Bubble, bubble!" For a few months now, Ellie would say "bubble, bubble," (complete with a razzing sound and lots of spit) as soon as we said the preceding line. A few weeks ago, just out of the blue and without the book around, I decided to say, "We make a spell." She actually responded with the bubbles! I hadn't been able to get it on tape until this video. It's not the best rendition, but at least it's something.

Bubble, bubble (this girl is trouble!) (3/30)

A few nights later, we had our lovely niece Skyler over for a sleepover. This video was taken as she and Ryan prepared the fire that we later roasted hot dogs and marshmallows on (yum!) Elliott sat in the swing watching everything and enjoying Daddy's attention.

  1. She sure is smart! Oh, those kisses. I will never forget when she was laying on me and was so tired and about to fall asleep, but she managed to push her little head up, give me the cutest, most tired look ever, and then came in and gave me a big smooch right before she fell asleep. And I remember when she would nuzzle with me when I was holding her and flop her little head down. I'm a lucky Aunt!
