yap yap! | weekend in pittsburgh | just a trim

Last week, before Ryan returned from his business trip, Ellie and I had been listening to a new CD that has the old school song How Much is That Doggie in the Window on it. After dinner that same night, I caught myself singing the song, and next thing I knew, Elliott was yapping in a high pitched bark at all the right places. It was so funny! After about 5 minutes of this, I finally thought to grab the camera. By this point, she is sort of on a yapping frenzy, but you get the idea. I just love this little girl (who turned 17 months old today, by the way!)

So last weekend we drove to Pittsburgh to visit my friend Amy, her husband Jon, and their little boy Jack. I have mentioned before that Elliott and Jack are arranged in marriage, and they sure do make a cute couple (though Ellie was bent on playing hard to get!) We had a great time just hanging out and enjoying the lovely weather, the entertaining babies, the good conversation with friends, and some tasty homemade food! Sadly, we missed Jack walking by just one day! Here are our pictures from the trip:

Good times in Pittsburgh, PA

I like this video of the kids (and us parents) at the pumpkin patch, where we took a hayride and picked out pumpkins to take home. A fun time was had by all!

And here is a video of Elliott deep in conversation with one of Jack's toys, an ant shaped like an "A" with bells on its legs. Again, this was recorded about 10 minutes into play, so we missed some high points, but she still proceeds to hug, kiss, and talk to this thing like it's a cherished baby doll or something. She was pretty much obsessed with it the entire weekend!

Finally, here is a pic I snapped of my new haircut. OK, it wasn't an official haircut, but Ryan used his special sideburn cutting method to take some weight off around the ears and then trimmed the hair at the nape of my neck that was growing in an upward curl, Mrs. Brady style. The results are glorious, and now I can avoid going to a real hairdresser for quite some time. Thanks for the haircut, dear! What can't you do?

Ellie's going to be a singer just like her mom! We'll hear you both entertaining at the coffee house someday.
