Good old fashioned fun at Glen Echo Park
We were a little nervous bringing Ellie to live theater, seeing that she's not even two years old yet, but since she's usually awesome, we decided to give it a shot. And I'm so glad we did. She did amazingly well, which is especially astonishing because she was by far the youngest audience member there, aside from a few infant siblings. She was a little shy when the actors first came out, doing her famous head-turned-but-watching-from-the-corners-of-her-eyes thing, but soon she was totally into it. She started excitedly pointing out everything she recognized, such as "rocks!" "monkeys!" "boat!" "castle!" "cupcakes!" - you get the drift. Then she revealed the cat's true identity to all around her about halfway through, when she realized that he was wearing a "hat!" But the cutest part was at the end, when the girl and her cat get caught by Mom with cupcakes smeared all over their faces. Ellie just kept saying "uh-oh!" until I could calm her down. It was hilarious! To top it all off, the play was extremely well done, thanks to a very professional cast of two. Even I was laughing throughout the show and blown away by the talent of the actors.
In the words of Ellie - "Uh-oh!"
You can bet we'll be seeing more live theater in the future, and you never know - someday soon, we may be making a family trek to Broadway!
The walk from the parking lot to the theater was gorgeous!

I couldn't take any pics during the show, but here's one from right before...
...and here's one from right after. She was very pleased!

For those who don't already know what will inevitably happen if you give a cat a cupcake: The cat will trade it upward until he gets his paws on a thermonuclear device; at which point, the cat-terrorists have won and we'll all be living in a world where there's a Catnip Den on every corner and dead mice are the coin of the realm.
ReplyDeleteSo if you give a cat a cupcake ... well, why not just hand him a nuclear bomb and your own FREEDOM while you're at it? DON'T TRUST CATS WITH BAKED GOODS!1!
That's what happens if you give a cat a cupcake. Cats are nature's perfect terrorists.
O, um, sorry ... SPOILER ALERT!1!
Also, the cat could just eat the cupcake and get all hyper and keep you up all night.
Toe-MAY-toe, toe-MAH-toe. Six of one, a half dozen of the other.
That must have been a trip! She's so active and smart now it's crazy. I love seeing pics of her when she is walking and holding Ryan's hand, she just looks so little and cute in comparison to daddy! Kisses!
ReplyDeleteFUN!!!
ReplyDeleteHow terrific-- you are now a theater-going family! We took the grand-nieces to Dr. Seuss at the Kelsey theater at Mercer County Community College and were in the very first row. i thought that was a good idea until the 6 foot Dr. Seuss came running out practically across our toes. May (3 years old) let out a scream and Bill had to take her back to sit safely in the very last row.
