Ellie painted for the very first time last week. For her birthday, I had bought her a set of paints, a smock, and these awesome jumbo toddler paintbrushes. Ellie was super excited to paint, and I was equally psyched - if not a little nervous about the inevitable mess - to lend her a hand. I laugh now at how naive I was to set up a water cup for cleaning the brush between colors. As if! I think we maybe cleaned it once, between paintings. Silly Mommy!
I stripped her down and put a smock on her. A little overboard? Probably!
Here she is just embarking on her painting adventure.
I love that she had to call out every color as she dipped her brush!
By this point, she was in a state of hypnotic concentration,
and was dipping her brush into a new color every few seconds!
All of her hard work paid off...
See? Two finished masterpieces!
Dipping your brush in water between colors? That's for bourgeois painters!
ReplyDeleteNice work! Bold brush strokes. Brash use of colors. A little derivative, perhaps, but shows promise. The artist needs to experience a bit more of the world. Don't be so provincial! Get out and about a little more! You won't get cooties!
Full disclosure: Actually, you may get cooties out there in the wild world. But your art will be all the better for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the art work! You can see Ellie's really getting into it. Where does Glaven propose she go- to Greenwich Village?
