Here's a video of the performance art I was privileged to witness earlier this evening. She had been going for a while before I pulled out the camera, so this was actually a bit subdued in comparison to what was going on at the start of the show:
Also, I am officially deeming Elliott a musical genius. No, not because of the above display of obvious musical talent (ha ha!) but because of this little story that happened earlier today. We were just hanging out making muffins when I started humming a tune to one of the shows she watches - but I quickly stopped myself after the first two notes, because I knew if I went on, she'd probably figure out what I was singing and start begging to watch it. But lo and behold, she got all excited after those two little notes and said "Cat in Hat!" which was of course the theme song I had been humming. What?!! I can't help but be impressed by my little monkey. She never ceases to amaze me!
That's way better be-bop and scat than Ella Fitzgerald ever did! And Ella couldn't play the xylophone.
ReplyDeleteShe is pretty defiant, though. You clearly said you couldn't "decipher" what she was saying and that "context clues" would help, but did she supply any?
No!
It was as though she didn't understand what you were saying, even though you were speaking plain English!
Like I said: Defiant!
Haha! Like your comment. And yeah, she is trouble. BTW, if you are still harping on that whole cat with a cupcake business, and I know you are - I strongly suggest you read the book to find out what REALLY happens in such a situation. After all, you work in a library, so you have no excuse!
ReplyDeleteI love this video! That is one top-notch performance. It was a step up from the kitchen dance, which was pretty darn adorable! I can't believe how shy she was with Megan the other day, makes me feel so loved though at the same time!
