and we shall call her...poopy!

Shortly after we brought Zoey home, Elliott declared that her nickname should be "Poopy."  So we compromised and have taken to calling her Zoey-Poo.  Has a nice ring to it, methinks.  Don't let Elliott's nickname for the baby fool you; she is being a great big sis, much better than I could have ever imagined.  She constantly says how cute she is and gives her kisses.  She worries when she cries and tells me that Baby Zoey is hungry or wants a paci (she even tried to feed her from her own booby the first time she held her!)  And she has been doing really well when I have both hands tied up while nursing, playing on her own or bringing a book over for us to read together.  I couldn't be happier with how well she is adjusting to this huge change in our lives, and I know she and Zoey are going to grow up to be great friends!

Elliott holds Zoey-Poo for the first time

Last week DC enjoyed some gorgeous Fall-like weather, so we made sure to get out as much as possible, despite the doctor's orders for me to stay in and take it easy (truth is, physically I feel better than I have in nine long months!)  We took a trip to a new playground, and the next day we visited this awesome little park that has both a carousel and a ten minute train ride through the woods - two of Elliott's favorite things all wrapped up in one place.  The funniest part is that Zoey slept through both outings, so she had absolutely no idea how much fun she had on our adventures!

About to board the choo-choo train with a sleeping Zoey

All smushed together and ready for the ride!

Woo-hoo! A carousel ride with Daddy!

As for Baby Zoey herself, she is doing amazingly well for a just-turned-two-week-old.  She actually gained 9 entire ounces in one week; that's more than an ounce a day!  So, as of this Tuesday, she is a whopping 7 lbs. 2 oz. (lest you think your math is off, remember that babies lose a bit of weight after they're born.)  She is so darn precious, we just love her to pieces!  Not that it's been entirely easy - I now laugh at myself for ever thinking it was hard having one kiddo.  Now that there are two little rugrats in our care, I sometimes wonder how I will get through the day (and the long, long night) intact.  Thankfully, Ryan has been home through this week and will stick around and work from home the next few weeks before he returns full time, and he's of course been a tremendous help. Enjoy these photos of our little peanut!

She still sleeps most of the day away...

...but occasionally takes a time-out to gaze at her Daddy.

(And she's out again!)

"That's all I can stands, cuz I can't stands n'more!"

OK, I best be off to retrieve Ellie from her room.  She just woke from her nap and is now singing the Ramones' Hey, Ho! at the top of her lungs...
