About a month ago, on September 4, Ryan and I excitedly confirmed that we were pregnant. I wanted to hold off on telling the world until my first OB/GYN appointment, which was this morning. Though I've been suffering from unrelenting "morning" sickness and fatigue, and certain parts of my body have been swelling to enormous (for me) proportions, and I've had so many food aversions and cravings that I
can't eat most vegetables and I
must eat poultry (I was practically a vegetarian prior to this), I still couldn't really believe it was real until I saw it with my own eyes on the ultrasound. So here it is, our little croissant (he/she was conceived in French Canada, so that's our silly little joke):

The dark area is the amniotic fluid (I
think), and the little peanut looking blob near the top of that is our baby! Its head is on the left side, so its "legs" are over to the right. We saw it's little heart fluttering like crazy!
I am due May 12, 2009, and am currently 9 weeks along (for any of you out there confounded by the math, the medical world counts from the first day of your last menstrual cycle, so you're technically "pregnant" before you even conceive. Weird!)
Though I still feel like a sick sickie, somehow seeing our little croissant hanging out inside me with its little heart beating has made me feel better about the vomiting and general nastiness I've been experiencing. Still, I'm hoping that once I get into my second trimester, I will start feeling much better. They
say that's supposed to happen, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'll keep you posted!
sweat it out for 3 more weeks, and you should feel amazing. from what my informant tells me, second trimester is the best.... great moods, more energy, no sickness, semi-normal appetite.
ReplyDeleteoh, and re-congrats!
