gramma & pop-pop visit | my hair: 4 weeks in

I was so happy to have my mom and dad here over the weekend. Not only was it wonderful to see them, but they also volunteered to give Ryan and I an official "night out" to celebrate our second wedding anniversary (it was yesterday.) We enjoyed a relaxing evening out, eating way too many tapas at La Tasca, and watching the rather hilarious movie Dinner for Schmucks. It has been far too long since we had a date night, and I was so grateful to spend some quality time with just Ryan. My parents had a blast with Elliott, taking her out to eat and on a long walk, and even tackling the (recently difficult) task of putting her down to bed. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Here are some cute pictures from the last few days:

Enjoying Jack's Big Music Show - again.
She actually put herself in the basket to watch! (8/4)

I love this "Girls Rock" onesie my dad got her. (8/7)

Good morning, Elliott Rose! (8/8)

And here I am with my 4 week old haircut, in the very height of its burr head/Monchichi phase. I have started applying a small amount of product to keep the fuzziness to a minimum, but it's still rather strange looking, especially at my widow's peak, which doesn't know which way it wants to go, and around my ears where my glasses hit.

4 weeks, and confused

If you look closely, you may just be lucky enough to see the pingueculae in my right eye. Yes, I now have one more freakish medical problem that usually only affects old people! Anyway, I had the worst feeling in my eye for days and days and finally broke down to get it checked out (which ended up requiring three doctor's visits in the course of four days). Now I am taking steroid and antibiotic drops and can't wear my contacts until I get the doctor's ok. I have to say, the glasses paired with the buzz cut plus my adult acne are all really doing wonders for my confidence lately. I feel like a teenager who keeps willing herself to just get through this awkward phase and then everything will be ok. Ha!

  1. I love those pictures and have to admit something...I cried like a little baby when I saw the picture of Ellie with mom and dad. They're so cute together! You are cute too and don't you worry about your "awkward phase". You are always beautiful! I love you! And Happy Anniversary to you two!

  2. Thanks Kristen. I hear we will be seeing you pretty soon. I look forward to your visit and know Steph is super excited to have you around. I'll have a four day weekend so maybe we can all do something fun.

  3. I feel your pain, Steph. My Ming the Merciless point is going away and the hair over the glasses is becoming a problem; but it's still to short for the spiking gel.

A belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Ryan!
